Cylinder cocks open, #116 vents her cylinders while pulling slowly away from the Towanda turntable in last week’s “WW #153”. Must be a little dry up in the woods, as the #116 has a spark arrestor placed over the stack.

S&NY #116 pauses at the Towanda ashpit in last week’s “WW #129”. Some of the accoutrements of steam railroading are in the foreground, namely a rack of rakes and other tools used to keep the fire in the engines in good shape, and the clinkers out. I doubt the ladder at the base of the water tank would pass muster in today’s OSHA world…

S&NY 2-8-0 #116 basks in the early spring sunshine at Towanda in last week’s “WW #112”. The time is a guess based on the sun angle and the bare trees, and I would guess the year is around 1940?

A rare pre-war color image of SNY #116 at the Towanda ashpit is the subject of last week’s “WW #101”. Hopper #1414 is one of 17 pre-USRA cars acquired used from the NYC.
