An overview of Marsh Hill yard looking generally northeastward was the subject of “WW #72” of two weeks ago. The western end of Sullivan Mountain looms in the background, and the railroad will curve to the right after leaving Marsh Hill yard, following the Pleasant Stream valley generally eastward to Masten, the top of the grade near Ellenton, and thence downgrade past Wheelerville into the Schrader Creek valley. Behind the photographer is the Marsh Hill station and the junction with the PRR’s Elmira Branch.

S&NY 2-6-0 #117 is again the subject of last weeks “WW #71”. I believe the setting is Newberry, with the Newberry car shop in the background.

S&NY 2-6-0 #117 passes the camera at an unknown location in last week’s “WW #70” .
Still puzzling how to convert a Bachmann 2-6-0 into this engine. The proportions are very similar, though the cab windows are slightly different. The main issue is the Stephenson-type valve gear and steam chests on the 117, vs. Walschaerts on the model. This would require major mechanical surgery, not just cosmetic. The tender would have to be completely rebuilt or scratch-built, but that is a separate issue…

Handsome S&NY 4-4-0 #106 poses for the camera in last week’s “WW #69”. Location is probably Towanda, given what appears to be the Susquehanna River in the background. The #106 is a former P.R.R. engine, bought in 1903 and scrapped in 1922.

S&NY 4-4-0 #113 poses in front of the car shop at Newberry, PA in last week’s “WW #68”.
The #113 was purchased new from Baldwin in 1907, and sported 62″ drivers with 18 x 26″ cylinders. The elegant engine was scrapped in 1934.
